About Us

B99.9 is officially WZBB-FM, which is locally owned and operated by Turner Media Group, Inc., with studios at Oak Level, Virginia, and a transmitter near Ferrum, Virginia.

B99.9 first went on the air in March 1989 as a business venture by longtime morning man Glenn Lynch and Donny Brook, who anchored afternoons.  Brook and Lynch had previously partnered to purchase WNLB-AM in Rocky Mount, Virginia, before putting WZBB on the air.  In 1991, B99.9 changed its slogan to “Today’s Hot Country” and began dominating the ratings throughout Southern Virginia.  In 2006 the station dropped the B-99.9 branding and became “Super Country 99.9” although that was changed March 1, 2019 as the station rebranded to B-99.9 Southern Virginia’s Country Station.

Through the 90’s, the 2000’s and into present day, B99.9 has been the Country Music authority, providing broadcast excellence for the residents of Southern Virginia.

B99.9 is committed to serving the local community with sports and award-winning news coverage, contests, like our “Race Pool,” that celebrate the area’s rich history with NASCAR; and music programs that display our pride in the bluegrass traditions passed from generation to generation, like “Saturday Night Stomp,  Our newest programming feature “Southern Fried Fridays” has become a listener favorite with a mix of country, southern Rock and Outlaw Country music.

We are proud of our community, our country heritage and blessed to be Southern.

We are Southern Virginia’s Country Station.
